Patience Day (#1 of many, to be sure) - January 2

I know some of you reading this are dealing with inches and inches of snow and way below freezing temperatures and travel delays (delays that may or may not allow your company to travel home after 1.5 weeks in your house) and so on, so just laugh at me when I whine for just one moment about the yukky weather here today and the fact that our gas lines were not able to be run because of the monsoon and waaaaah...

Patience, Donkey, patience. (Reference to an old joke my Aunt Jean told me a looong time ago and the only part of it I routinely remember is the punchline...)  It is out there on the web, though, for the curious among you.

So the gas is now going to be next Thursday, meaning the paver work on the pool deck moves out a week.  Drywall guy and I got our wires crossed and he'll be here tomorrow morning rather than this evening and so...patience, donkey.

Good things that happened today:
- The tile for the backsplash and fireplace surround is in and ready to be picked up (subject of future posts I am sure)
- My dad figured out the mistakes we'd made on the dimmer switch and had his electrician friend validate that for us (thanks, Pete!)
- We aren't shoveling snow today, tonight, or tomorrow (sorry, my darlings to the north!)
- Despite the amount of destruction that has gone on in this house over the last week, we have a fully functional kitchen and a completely liveable house (which will come to a brief end at some point in this project), so we're good.

A friend and I were talking just the other day about when it doesn't seem that things are moving along, if you stop and really look, things are still happening.  So no reason to feel sorry for myself.

Patience, Donkey, patience.
