Wishing and Hoping Day - January 8

Well, golly it's been cold!  And for those of you who live in St. Louis or New York or Minnesota or just traveled home from Canada, I know you've been colder than here - but really?  Should this happen on our pool deck?

Nope, it should not.  Ever.  We live in Florida for many reasons, and not having icicles on the pool deck is one of them.

Meanwhile, back to the kitchen...it was darn cold in here too.  With the drywall out, we can see directly from the kitchen into the garage up near the ceiling, and a few nights ago we noticed that when standing at the sink, we could feel the very cold air too.  So we took matters into our own hands and between the two of us, a roll of heavy plastic, and some duct tape, we stopped most of the draft (sort of).  Good enough that the house actually warmed up after we did it and the parrot made it through the 24 degree night ok.  This is our current kitchen decor:

Loverly, isn't it?

So, tomorrow begins the big stuff.  The new stuff.  The stuff of my dreams stuff.  The gas lines get run for the new cooktop and the gas fireplace, and the new gas logs get installed.  Of course, you've heard this before, so we really really need it to NOT rain tomorrow.  I'm sure by June I'll be begging for rain, but for one day - for one 24 hour period, I'm begging for it to not rain.  Just let me have gas!

Um.  Don't think I've ever said that before.

Updates tomorrow!
