The Waiting Is The Hardest Part - April 5 - April 29

Apologies to Tom Petty.

So.  We're still waiting on cabinet doors to get hung, but that happens FRIDAY.  Of this week.  We might be a little bit excited!!!

What have we been doing with ourselves, you might be wondering?  Well, work travel continues to happen more than I would prefer, so that was a few days of the last several weeks.  We also took a trip to go see family on the West Coast, that was a lot of fun!  Here's a pic of the crew at a Padres game:

Petco Park - an absolutely beautiful spot to watch a game

Shortly after we got home, the LONG AWAITED cabinet doors were delivered!  And rain simultaneously showed up for 5 days but at last the painting project got started...

 And went on...

 And went on and on...

And on and on and on....

Until finally, they are finished.  We have the pulls here and ready to be installed as well.  Friday.  This Friday!

We have also kept ourselves "entertained" by doing odds and ends finishing touches -

A fresh coat of (heat resistant) paint on the fire place...

Wood trim filling the gap between the tile and the floor...

New doorknobs, curtains, switchplates...non-essential but very beautiful stuff.  I'll spare you photos.

Friday, kids.  This Friday!  See you then!!

March Madness turns into full on Spring! - March 23 through April 5

Good Lord time flies!!!  Since we last visited, lots of little things have happened around here and a few really happy things have happened too.

Lots of little things - touching up cabinet paint around the dishwasher and on the cabinets in the laundry room, replacing really hot light bulbs with LEDs, rehanging the kitchen window blinds (which turned into quite the process for CW since they had come completely undone at some point along the way!), and so on.  I'll spare you the photos.

Happy things include:

New cushions for deck chairs have arrived:

CW and I built - FROM SCRATCH - a bookcase to fit in some unused space in the laundry room.  16 inches deep, 12 inches wide, and 94 inches tall.  Yup, we did it all by ourselves!!!  Behold (time lapse of one week):

Happy am I!!!!

In garden news, the first trellis is finished and installed:

The cabinet doors will be delivered on the 15th, so we're finally getting to the WE'RE DONE STICK A FORK IN US part of this project.  A little over our timeline but still waaaayyy under budget!  More to come...
