First, a close up of this magnificent appliance:
Then, the Dooze escorting it to the curb:
We refer to this practice of putting unwanted items at the curb as the "Redneck Garage Sale". See, here in the 'hood, stuff doesn't hang around on the curb too long. (We have witnessed some funny stuff over the years - one van was trying to back into our driveway a little too quickly after taking old cans of paint or something from the RGS, backed into the tree, smashed out their back window, and went peeling off like they had been trying to be sneaky but got caught.) So, the oven/range went out right at 10 a.m. and exactly one hour later, this fella pulls up in his van and is determined to leave with that thing. Chris went out to see if he needed a hand, and why sure he did - because he wanted to put the thing on the ROOF of his van. And no, he didn't have cargo racks up there either. Of course I was watching this out the window so as soon as I thought I could go snap a photo of this actually happening while being my usual subtle, discreet self, I did. Behold:
As the commercial says "Totes amazeballs"!!!! I'm still giggling over this one. (The windows in the van coupled with the large rusted pipe on top and now this appliance just slays me.)
OK, enough of that (but it is FUNNY). We have one more Demo Day scheduled for Tuesday night, that's when the sink (*gasp*) and dishwasher (**double gasp**) have to come out so that those counters can come off. The level of dread I feel when imagining functioning without a kitchen sink and dishwasher is outweighed by the excitement of being this far along. Let's hope it holds. And thank the good Lord for Dixie paper products. Ok, photos:
A better view of the wall taken down to the correct height, this is where the new peninsula will be instead of the counter/bar (aka junk holder) we had before.
The view from the kitchen into the living room - I cannot believe how OPEN it is and how cool it is going to be!!! (And yes, hot dogs and macaroni and cheese on the counter. Favorite supper and can be cooked on a grill with side burner. Don't hate.)
Progress!!
